Name: Spin Hansen, fka Spin Freakin' Hansen (He doesn't use the "Freakin" anymore. Seriously.)
Height: 6'10"
Weight: 329 lbs
Hometown: Salt Lake City, UT
Age/Birthdate: 26, 4/12/1982
Trained By: Many brawls on the streets, formal wrestling training provided by CZW, NJPW/HUSTLE, and UPW.
Professional Debut: 2004, as Super Large Explosive Anger and Random Bloody Violence Man in HUSTLE (a superhero/villian gimmick).
OOWF Debut: Midweek Mayhem, 6/21/2006, brutally attacking Josh O'Neal. First match was at Midsummer Night's Scream I (6/27/2006), versus The Hurricane.
Gimmick: The most obvious thing about Spin is that he has an extremely short fuse, and holds grudges. Respect and trust are the two biggest watchwords for Spin. Betray his trust and you'll have an enemy for the rest of your life. (See O'Neal, Josh.) There are several people in the OOWF that he respects, and some he never will.
Appearance: A bigger, taller, Albert / A-Train / Giant Bernard. Short curly blonde hair and a goatee. Hairy chest, hairy back. Well-built but not a bodybuilder type. Nose has obviously been broken (thanks, Firechild... and Firewoman!). In ring, he wears black cargo pants and Doc Martens boots. The pants have a silver "SH" monogrammed on one of the pockets. Has also been known to wear khaki cargo pants with a black "SH" on the pocket, but still wears the Doc Martens. Black fingerless leather biker gloves.
Out of the ring, Jeans and T-shirts. The occasional Colorado Avalanche (generally from the '96 or 2001 Cup Champion teams... particularly Roy, Forsberg, Sackic, and Lemiuex, especially near Detroit), University of Utah, or Denver Broncos (usually Elway) jersey. The same Doc Marten boots.
Moveset: Big man offense. Hardcore. Brawling, brawling, and more brawling. Spin will use any means necessary to win-- chairs, crowbars, grabbing the prone body of a referee and beating the opponent with it (although that only happened once in Japan).
Signature Moves: Lots of headbutts. Powerslams, Samoan Drops, spinebusters-- typical big man offense.
Powerful clotheslines, a la Stan Hansen (no relation... OR IS THERE?)
Frequent, egregious, and joyful use of foreign objects, particularly his crowbar.
Submissions: Chokes. ~ARMBARS! Chickenwings. Even the Crossface if warranted.
Set-up Moves: A headbutt and a punch to the stomach, followed with a rabbit punch to the back of the skull. Spinebusters.
Finishers:
Hair of the Dog: Matt Morgan's Hellevator
Jaegerbomb: (Formerly known as The Revolution... Spinning sitout powerbomb)
Spinal Justice (Muscle Buster, performed like the Mexican Stretch Buster move from Smackdown: Here Comes The Pain and most likely other games in that series)
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot (Cross-Leg STF)
Tag Finisher
100 PROOF (With D.H. Magnusson): Spin hits the Jaegerbomb as D.H. hits a top-rope fist drop.
Former Finishers:
The Incinerator / Todesfall: A falling chokeslam.
Firestarter: A lifting double chicken wing submission.
The Revolution: Same as the Jaegerbomb, different name.
Entrance Music:
"More Human than Human" by White Zombie (Spin's original face entrance music. Spin recently reverted to this music after his return. White pyro explodes from the MammOOthTron right as the song itself starts, white lights flash across the crowd, and Spin runs through the crowd a la Edge and Christian when they were faces, jumps into the ring, throws a few punches, and then punches his palm-- when his fist hits his palm, Kane-ish white pyro explodes from the turnbuckles.)
“Immigrant Song” by Led Zeppelin (With D.H. Magnusson as The Midnight Sons.)
"Have A Drink On Me" by AC/DC (the new Drink & Destroy theme.)
Former Entrances:
“Exterminate, Annihilate, Destroy” by Rotersand. (Used for singles matches during the Midnight Sons era and as Voldsohmet).
"Straight to Video", by Mindless Self Indulgence (KMFDM Remix, only used for a few months. Replaced "More Human Than Human" when Spin found out that "Wildcat" Chris Harris was using the theme.)
"Firestarter" by The Prodigy (Original heel entrance music)
"Alcohaulin' Ass" by Hellyeah (Drink and Destroy's original theme during the Stank Years)
Background: Spin tends to have a very, very explosive temper. He loves to fight and ended up meeting Josh O'Neal in a local jail where the two became fast friends. What Spin didn't know at the time was that Josh's actions led to Spin's arrest and incarceration. Time went by and the two friends drifted apart, with Josh ending up in the OOWF and Spin continuing his brawling ways, eventually training at UPW and (after injuring a student) CZW. His training concluded, oddly enough, with HUSTLE as Super Large Explosive Anger and Random Bloody Violence Man, a superhero (or villian) summoned by saying Spin's name backwards. (As with most things of this manner, this only works in Japan.)
Just before moving back to America to join the OOWF, Spin found out from a mysterious shadowed figure that Josh was the reason behind Spin's incarceration. Spin joined the OOWF with revenge on his mind, first attacking and then joining with O'Neal after a brutal Lights Out Hell in a Cell match at the Unfriendly Confines PPV.
At Spin's urging, the pair co-opted the name "Drink & Destroy" from the original holders, Stank and F.F. Capslock. Hansen and O'Neal feuded with the former Drink and Destroy (now known as THE NEW ORIGINAL NEW CLASSIC BLACKJACKS 2000) for several months (and some very scary antics involving Ruth Bader Ginsburg) with the final battle for the name occurring at Hell on Earth II. Spin OMG SWERVE~!ed everyone by wrapping his fists in alcohol-soaked cloth, lighting them on fire, putting Josh into a full mount, and punching his face repeatedly. Spin asked to join Drink and Destroy after this, and his request was granted.
On October 25, 2006 at Mayhem, Spin's next feud began, as he competed against Firechild for the OOWF Onslaught Championship. The two battled back and forth (as a microcosm of the larger battle between D&D and the 3 Piece Set) with Spin eventually winning the Onslaught title in a 60-minute Ironman match at Call to Arms on 11/27/2006.
Spin had many challengers for the title in the oncoming months including Knife, Eric O'Mac, Nayr, and the man who eventually pulled the title from Spin's waist, Donovan Viper (Mayhem, 2/14).
Following this, Spin seemed aimless, teaming with Nayr against Kenji and Knife and generally going silent. He eventually snapped out of his funk and refocused his efforts on regaining the Onslaught championship, defeating Donovan Viper (who had regained the title from several others) on May 2nd, 2007 at Mayhem.
The competition was fierce during Spin's second reign, with Nayr and Hardbody Harris gunning for Spin's belt. His one-year anniversary in the OOWF was not to be a happy one, as Harris defeated Hansen for the belt on 6/24/07 at Midsummer Night's Scream II, although he did manage to kick out of the dreaded TO BE EDITED IN LATER!.
Around this time, Drink and Destroy had gained several new members as they fought against the Heroes Guild. Spin played a part in getting Outback Jack to join up with Drink and Destroy and, although he had serious misgivings, learned to give begrudging respect to Moosehead Jack, who, to this day, has TECHNICALLY not betrayed him.
Even though he was a two-time Onslaught champion and a multi-time Iron Man Heavy Metal champion, Spin felt as though he hasn't fully gained the respect of his peers... and started conferring with the same shadowed figure who told him about Josh O'Neal's betrayal. The Shadowed Figure claimed that his training and knowledge of the OOWF will gain Spin the respect that he so deeply desires.
On October 28th, 2007, a new chapter in Spin's life started. At Doomy Doomy Doom Doom IV, Spin competed against D.H. Magnusson for the first time, starting a series of matches against him. The two were booked to tag with one another a few weeks later (Mayhem, 11/21/07) and a bond of respect and friendship grew between the two. This bond paid off quickly as the pairing defeated Los Defenstrators for the OOWF Tag Team Championships at Mayhem on 12/12/07 despite interference from LOADED. Sadly, Los Defenstrators reclaimed the titles on December 26th thanks to some brass kuncks stuck in Voltaje's boot.
The pair continued to tag, taking on KZ in a "one night only" match and the "Uncrowned Champions", Phantos and Lucios in a Best Of Seven series which Hansen and Magnusson lost atDance of Death IV. As terms of losing the match, Hansen and Magnusson had to shake P&L's hands as a sign of respect. The two teams ended up gaining mutual respect for one another although they never had a major feud again.
The team found their name at Mayhem on February 20th, 2008... the Midnight Sons (a play on the Nordic heritage of both men). As this was going on, they were heavily courted by both Team Rick and Bennett's Army, as well as the neutral D.E.A. Hansen and Magnusson made an announcement after a few weeks of being courted, saying that they were going to side with the fans. This changed after a brutal attack by Bennett's Army, as the whole of Drink & Destroy joined Rick's Men.
The Sons again tasted gold when they won a 2 out of 6 Falls Key on a Pole Tables and Death Match Barroom Brawl at Midweek Mayhem on 4/30/08. Their first title defense was a brutal one, facing Empty Team in the match that they made famous-- the Taipei Death Match. The Sons again won, but their second reign proved to be a short one as they were defeated by B.A.D., Seamus McNasty and Damon Wrath, at Midweek Mayhem on 5/21/08 in a second Taipei Death Match.
The Sons retained the titles at Midweek Mayhem on 6/11/08 after a series of brawls with Gaelic Storm (formerly B.A.D.) but quickly lost them thanks to L.J. Bennett, who immediately arranged a match versus IHOP where the Sons would be stripped of the titles if anyone came from the back and IHOP was allowed to use any weapon they wanted.
The Sons (and Team Aquafina) attempted multiple times to retrieve the titles from IHOP but were stonewalled at every attempt. Growing frustrated, Spin and D.H. turned to more singles matches but pledged to regain the titles that were rightfully theirs.
Spin was an entrant in a Tournament Royale for a shot at the OOWF Championship, gaining a title shot with his second place finish but losing to L.D. Williams.
Spin and D.H. continued to take on all comers in singles matches. D.H., for his part, managed to defeat Poe and Alexander Darling in a three-way match for the Intercontinental Championship at Midweek Mayhem on 9/24/08. Unexpectedly, Spin was booked against D.H. for the Intercontinental championship at Hell On Earth IV. Spin lost a hard-fought match but all that was secondary to the events that took place later in the night-- Stank being attacked by Davin Moreland in a SHOCKING turn of events that started a rivalry between Run DEA and Drink and Destroy.
Spin reacted to this by trying to expand his horizons of violence further... by asking Outback Jack to show him the secret way of Empty Team. Spin starts taking what he has learned into his next match immediately and ends up making it into the Ultimate Onslaught portion of Imperial Onslaught but is eliminated second by Alexander Darling.
Tragedy struck the next week for Spin (and Drink and Destroy as a whole): the Midnight Sons were reunited in a tag team match against the Chickenshit Heels in the Tag Team Invitational Tournament and seemed to be holding their own against one of the most infamous tag teams in history when Attitude Adjuster threw a fireball in D.H. Magnusson's face, eliminating the Sons from the tournament.
Even though D.H. was nearly blind, he insisted on coming to Mayhem the next week. After a short speech, he forfeited the match and the Intercontinental Championship was awarded to Spin.
As the next few weeks passed, Spin took the Empty Team way to heart and did NOT seek retribution against the Chickenshit Heels but absorbed the anger into himself. He did, however, come out in his matches with a new look-- black and white Empty Team-style facepaint and the initials "DHM" written on taped-up fists without gloves. He also came out to a new name-- Voldsohmet, which is Norwegian for "Violent" or "Fierce". This name didn't do Spin many favors, however, as most people mocked it. He ignored this and the wins started to rack up-- including victories against Moosehead Jack and Seamus McNasty and nearly defeating Davin Moreland for the OOWF World Championship.
Spin and Firewoman fought to a double count-out at Midweek Mayhem on
11/12/2008, which was also notable in that D.H. Magnusson made his return to the OOWF with an attack on Davin Moreland.
Spin's behavior was increasingly erratic as the weeks went on, engaging in odd chants and spending hours at a time meditating in the boiler room. Stank, D.H. Magnusson, and the Shadowed Figure all expressed concern but Spin brushed it off. In the ring, Spin and D.H. ended up fighting each other to a No-Contest the following week but were attacked by the Chickenshit Heels post-match. The two fought the tag team off and it seemed like things were back to the way they were. The Sons took on TCH the next week to a no-contest.
Spin's fortunes started to turn with the loss of his Intercontinental Championship to Firewoman at Mayhem on 12/03/2008. The loss sent Spin into a spiral of anger that also cost him his association with the Shadowed Figure and cost him a win in his rematch against Firewoman. To make matters worse, Alexander Darling snapped D.H. Magnusson's leg taking him out of action again. All of these events made Spin question Drink and Destroy's commitment to fighting Run DEA.
Spin continued to flounder in most of his matches being no-contests or losses and his reactions continued to become more extreme-- withdrawals to the Boiler Room and a complete lack of care as to winning or losing. Things continued to roll downhill when Josh O'Neal attempted to return to the OOWF as an active competitor.
Josh continued to campaign for a match when the next blow to Spin came-- D.H. Magnusson's second return to the OOWF, by way of the brother of the very man who broke his leg. This was enough to break Spin's composure as he lashed out at Stank for his perceived inaction at D.H.'s defection. He continued his anger towards D.H. at Dance of Death V but was rewarded with a loss for his troubles and a brick to the face from Josh O'Neal, who announced his return to the OOWF at the next Mayhem... in a Special Challenge match against Spin.
Spin gave his best in the match but was defeated by Josh O'Neal... hitting rock bottom. As Josh celebrated, the Shadowed Figure made his return, telling Spin that his way had failed and that things were going to be done "his way". The arena lights went out, and Spin and the Shadowed Figure both vanished.
Spin was gone for a month before making his return at Midweek Mayhem on 3/4/09, coming from the crowd to attack D.H. Magnusson after he cheated to retain the Onslaught championship.
Drink & Destroy's focus soon turned to a newly-formed group consisting of Seamus McNasty, the recently reunited kz (formed when LD Williams won the OOWF Championship and was made to leave Fear This and Drink and Destroy), and Poe. Spin assisted with this, however, his main focus was still inflicting pain on D.H. Magnusson in a series of increasingly brutal brawls.
At Midweek Mayhem on 4/15/09 Spin entered the first round of a tournament for the Intercontinental Championship in a match against Firewoman, fueling his wrath against Run-DEA. Tytan and Chris Evans both discounted Spin's chances in the tournament. When complaining about this to the Shadowed Figure, he urged Spin to brutally attack an unaware Chris Evans to get Firewoman angry. He succeeded in angering Firewoman enough to win the match but paid for it with an attack from Fire and D.H. Magnusson. He lost at next week's Mayhem in a match against Chris Evans, who has proven himself in Spin's eyes.
Hostilities between Spin and Firewoman continued with both competitors trying to convince GM TheRick to make the stakes higher (i.e. a Number One Contenders match) but GMtR refused due to Firewoman's mental state.
Spin was next involved in the Tournament for the Titles with Beer Baron, Tytan, and Firewoman. Spin pinned the match's loser in the first two matches (Beer Baron and Firewoman, respectively) but couldn't beat Tytan in the final match. In Spin's match against Poe, he did NOT lose (won by DQ thanks to Tytan's interference) but didn't win the elusive last piece that he needs to become the third Grand Slam Champion in OOWF history... the World Championship. Spin tried again for the Championship at Mayhem on 6/10/2009 and had Poe, but couldn't drag both himself and Poe to the ring by the time a 10 count was over. Spin, Tytan, Firewoman, and Poe continued feuding culminating in a Dungeon Match at Midsummer Night's Scream III that saw Spin losing the match due to being locked in an Iron Maiden.
Around this time, a delusional Kurt Thomas (the famed gymnast) entered Spin's life being set on teaching Spin the deadly art of Gymkata. Spin was put through hell by Thomas and his matches didn't get much easier, either... Spin and Poe faced off a few more times with their last match being a doozy at Bloodbath in Paradise II. Spin AGAIN was not pinned by Poe but instead fell victim to the dreaded Double Count-Out. Poe hit Spin with the Hieroglyph and Spin was out for the count, with the Shadowed Figure dragging him away afterwards. The dragging ended up being so the SF could deliver Spin to a month of intense training at Kurt Thomas's ranch in Texas (Thomas believes it's the fictional nation of Parmistan).
In a completely unrelated incident, Super Large Explosive Anger and Random Bloody Violence Man made his presence known the next week by attacking Concrete TG. The next week in Nagasaki, Japan HUSTLE's Generalissimo Takada announced that he was unleashing SLEA&RBV Man against the OOWF simply to destroy it. Of course, the OOWF's resident superhero, Concrete TG came to the aid of the OOWF as a whole. SLEA&RBV Man kidnapped LADDER the next week. The two men fought for the remainder of the Japan tour, culminating in a match where the participants fought in a Giant Mecha Battle To The Death. After destroying much of Tokyo, Concrete TG (with an assist from Neko-Plushie) was victorious in thwarting the dastardly SLEA&RBV Man and the HUSTLE Army and saving LADDER.
Spin returned from his month of hell in Texas having learned enough to catch Kurt Thomas unaware and beat the hell out of him before being approached about (and ignoring) a CHUD problem.
An unexpected reunion and reconciliation took place on 9/16/09's Midweek Mayhem where D.H. Magnusson made the save as Spin was being assaulted by IHOP. The next week the two announced that they had reconciled their differences and that the Midnight Sons were "never really gone." The Sons tagged again for the first time in a LONG time against IHOP that week and at Hell On Earth V, where the unthinkable happened...
Stank abandoned Drink & Destroy to join a new faction called The Five, consisting of Moosehead Jack, LD Williams, Poe, Stank, and Firewoman. His exit was punctuated by an assault from The Five against the remaining members of Drink and Destroy at Mayhem on 9/30. After the assault, a teary-eyed Spin announced fiercely that Drink and Destroy would NEVER die and that he was taking the reins as leader of the faction (a decision supported by the other two remaining members of D&D, Outback Jack and D.H. Magnusson) and doing "whatever it takes" to keep Drink & Destroy a running concern in the OOWF.
