OOWF Hall of Fame 2013
Live! From the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium, Asheville North Carolina
<we open to the inside of the auditorium and see all of the OOWF wrestlers sitting at fancy tables on the floor, while the paid crowd sits in the seats along the side and top. Everyone is all dressed up, we catch Miranda looking around, eyes wide, taking in her first HOF ceremony>
VOG: Welcome to the 2013 OOWF Hall of Fame ceremony! Ladies and Gentlemen, allow me to introduce the GM of the OOWF……..Nate “Pun” Corbitt!
<there is applause for the new GM and he comes out and stands behind the podium for a moment allowing the cheers to die down>
GMtP: thank you for the warm welcome. It’s no secret, I haven’t been here very long, and most of you probably haven’t had much of a chance to meet me. I will say this, I have a deep respect for the history of the OOWF, I have watched it since day one and followed the careers of everyone in the audience right now, and I just want to say I am proud to get a chance to run this company
<applause>
GMtP: It brings me great pleasure to induct a new round of Hall of Famers, the crème of the OOWF crop. This is not an easy profession to excel in, and the OOWF is the hardest of any fed in the world
<more applause>
GMtP: The constant travel, the insane matches, it all wears on you, but I…….I feel confident in saying that if there were ever an overall Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame, every single member of the OOWF Hall of Fame would be the first ones inducted
<standing ovation>
GMtP: Ok, enough of that. Here to induct our first member of the Class of 2013, the owner, founder, and brains behind the OOWF…….Ecosystem
<Eco walks out and gets a standing ovation from the crowd. He looks out at the crowd for a minute, then motions for the applause to die down>
Eco: I had my moment, this isn’t about me. When the Board came to me and asked me to induct Niles Anderson, I admit I was a little confused about it. He and I had a brief partnership in The Establishment, but other than that, we were just co-workers. Niles Anderson was what some might call aloof. He didn’t have a lot of friends, and he did his own thing, but that was partly by design so people would underestimate him, and that was a deadly mistake. In that ring, Niles Anderson was one of the best ever, I knew from the moment I saw him in a ring in Japan that I wanted him to work for me. He went on to become a two time Intercontinental champion, and a two time world heavyweight champion. Ladies and Gentlemen, “The Specimen” Niles Anderson!
<Niles walks out onto the stage, looking cocky as ever, though he does take a moment to give Eco a manly bro hug. Eco stands in front of the podium as the crowd rises and gives him his due respect. When it finally dies down, Niles looks genuinely touched>
NA: man I have missed that. About six years ago or so, I hurt my knee in a match against Alexander Darling. More to the point, Alexander Darling destroyed my knee. For a long time, I was bitter and plotted revenge, but then I realized that if “The Specimen” could not be 100%, there was no point in coming back. Sure, I did take the occasional match, and I was honored to be included in the OOWF 500 last year, but I made the decision to walk away while I still could, and it was the most difficult decision of my life.
Now, I know what some of you are thinking, I came up here to rip Alexander Darling……that’s not the case. I came here to thank him. He made me make the decision I would never have made on my own. I was able to walk away on my own and move onto something else. For that, thank you. And I also want to thank the rest of the OOWF roster, past and present. I am not usually big on giving anyone else credit……but I can’t even begin to count the great matches I have had with the likes of LD Williams, Donovan Viper, Underdawg, the list just goes on an on. And to welcome me back like this…….it really means a lot. Thank you!
<The crowd rises again as Niles steps away from the podium. Once again he and Eco share a hug, and Niles shakes hands with GM Nate, then heads off the stage. The crowd settles down and Nate continues>
GMtN: our next speaker really needs no introduction. As soon as he decides to call it a career for good, he will be on the receiving end of this honor. Some, including himself, consider him the greatest of all time. Ladies and Gentlemen, Davin Moreland
<Davin walks out in a tux, looking sharp, and walks up to the mic. The crowd cheers him on, but he quickly quiets them>
DM: They told me I only had five minutes to introduce 3Piece Set. Evidently they believe I can be a little long winded <crowd laughs>. The supergroup is not a new concept in wrestling, the Four Horsemen, the Dangerous Alliance, Fortune, Main Event Mafia……the list goes on. There are always many, but there has to be a first. The OOWF has seen Run DEA, the Five, the Saints of Sinners, the New Guard, DEVILS…..but there had to be a first, and that first was 3Piece Set. Chris Cole was the technical wrestler, Ax-Man was the bruiser and Firechild could fly as well as anyone ever. You put that all together and you have one of the most dominant factions that the OOWF has ever seen. They set the standard for those to come after them. It is my pleasure to welcome 3Piece Set, “The Main Event” Chris Cole, Ax-Man and Firechild into the 2013 OOWF Hall of Fame class!
<Ax, Cole and Firechild walk out and the audience rises. They all throw up the 3PS sign and the crowd eats it up. They get to the podium and shake hands with Davin and GM Nate. As the applause dies down, Cole steps to the mic first>
CC: When I was inducted into the Hall in 2009 it was the greatest honor of my life. Knowing that my colleagues believed I was among the best ever means more to me than you will all ever know. But despite that…….something felt wrong. I was going into the Hall without my brothers, without the men who helped make me “the Main Event” Chris Cole. I am honored to be standing here with them, I am proud of the legacy 3Piece Set has left, and I damn sure know that there are no two tougher men on the planet than Ax and Firechild!
<huge ovation for this>
Ax: I never had a whole lot to say, I preferred to let my actions in the ring talk for me…….but I will say this……this is quite an honor. To be up here with the men I consider brothers, with the men I bled and fought with…….this means a lot. Thank you
<Ax-Man gets a standing ovation>
FC: you know……when I started in wrestling, they told me I was too small, too reckless, way too much of a risk taker……
Wilder: GO BIG OR GO HOME!
FC: <pointing to Wilder>…..yeah man! He gets it! They told me I was never going to amount to anything. I set out to prove them wrong, I came to the OOWF to prove that I could run with the big dogs, that I had what it took. Chris and Ax were already known commodities, they approached me to complete the Set and I jumped at it. Together, the three of us did exactly what we wanted, when we wanted, and didn’t care who didn’t like it. Being up here, going into the Hall with these guys……I wouldn’t do it any other way. Thank you
<the audience rises for all three, Davin and Nate come back out and they all exchange handshakes and hugs. 3Piece Set throw up the sign one last time, which draws another huge ovation, then they disappear behind the curtain leaving GM the Nate at the podium>
GMtN: Next up……two of the rising stars of the OOWF, siblings only slightly less demented than the Quinn’s……..here to induct Outback Jack………Daniella and DK Murphy!
<the audience gives the Murphy’s ice ovation, but it is clear they both want the crowd to settle, the have something else to say>
Daniella: It is an honor to be able to induct our father into the OOWF Hal of Fame, but much like 3Piece Set said earlier, something just isn’t quite right……..guys……..
<with that, Danny Taylor, DH Magnusson, El Lobo Sangriento and…..to everyone’s surprise……Gatorbait make their way out on the stage. The crowd goes crazy and gives them a standing ovation. On the screen behind them, we get an image of Spin Hansen. Before he is even announced formally, Outback Jack comes out from the back, hugs, tears and handshakes all around. The crowd remains on their feet for a long time. Finally after what seems like an eternity, Jack gets to the podium and wipes his eyes>
OBJ: Damn mate……seems to be a bit dusty in here. <Jack looks out at the crowd and smiles> it’s a bit like coming home <applause> You know, I look out over the crowd and I see a lot of people I have gone to war against, I see a lot of people who have gone to war with me. I see the people who tried to end my career………but that doesn’t matter because when I look out across the crowd, I see family
<the crowd roars, Jack pulls DK and Daniella close and hugs them while DH, Danny, Gator and Lobo applaud>
OBJ : That’s the thing about family…..they don’t always get along, sometimes they fight. Only when we fight, it’s in barbed wire fence matches. The time I spent in the OOWF <looking at Gator> either in The Team From Down Under or <looking at the others> in Drink and Destroy is a time I wouldn’t trade for anything. I am so proud to be a part of this family, and to be honored by all of you with this. And I am damn sure proud to have DK and Daniella carrying on the tradition.
<Jack looks around, then reaches into his pocket and pulls out a Fosters and drinks it, then belches into the mic>
OBJ: That’s Australian for…….last one to the Pub buys the first round!
<the crowd gets to their feet and applauds. Hugs all around on the stage. GM the Nate comes back out>
GMtN: Ladies and Gentlemen the OOWF Hall of Fame Class of 2013!
<Jack, Cole, Ax, Firechild and Niles all stand center stage and soak up the roaring ovation from the crowd. The OOWF roster makes their way up onto the stage and hands are shaken, hugs are given, and no doubt stories will be told.>
VOG: Thanks for watching the 2013 OOWF Hall of Fame ceremony, tune in tomorrow night for the 2013 OOWF Award show, and be sure to watch Hell On Earth 9, Sunday September 29!
